Professor Stefanidis (M.D., Ph.D.) is a professor of Internal Medicine/Nephrology and the Dean of the School of Health Sciences at the University of Thessaly, as well as Chief of the Nephrology Division at the University Hospital of Larissa. As the research leader of the Nephrology Research Group at the University of Thessaly his main research interests includes the systemic influence of renal disease and therapies, the genetics behind multifactorial disorders in Nephrology and the physiology of mesothelial and messangial cells. He is also the vice President of the Hellenic Society of Nephrology. Prof Stefanidis has published more than 300 research articles (citation index >8300, H-index 50) and he is the cofounder of the BECRO CRO a company specialized in services to Pharmaceuticals and medical device companies. His teaching experience includes being a visiting professor in Internal Medicine at Aachen University, as well as overseeing 9 Ph.D. theses out of which 7 are pending. He was successful in acquiring a total of € 754.274,52 in Research Grants that he has used in various projects. He has also written one book and is author of 10 chapters.
